Dr Sun Yat-sen (also known as Sun Zhongshan), a prominent democratic revolutionary leader of the twentieth century, created Sun Yat-sen University, formerly known as Guangdong University, in 1924. Guangdong Province, which borders Hong Kong and Macao and is at the forefront of China’s reform and opening up, is home to the university. The university has become a major foundation for teaching high-level talents, scientific research, offering services to society, and inheriting cultural traditions, thanks to its location near Hong Kong and Macao and the regional benefit of opening and economic development.
