The UK Visa application procedure

Since there are different visas to apply for as a student or as a working professional, one must ensure that they choose the right visa type. To apply for a UK visa one must know to go through these steps-

  • Find out if you need a UK visa.
  • Chose the right UK visa type.
  • Complete the online application form.
  • Collect the required documents for a UK visa application.
  • Schedule a UK visa appointment.
  • Attend the UK visa interview.

Your course length, type and place of study effect which visa to apply for. A Standard Visitor visa lets you do a short course of study that lasts no longer than 6 months. A Short-term study visa lets you come to the UK to study an English language course that is over 6 months and up to 11 months. A Student visa is usually for a longer course. You must be sponsored by a licensed college or university and have a confirmed place. You may be able to do some work on this visa. A Child Student visa is for 4 to 17-year-olds who want to study at an independent school. If you’re 16 or over, you can do some work on this visa.

Application requirements for Indian

Each and every individual college and course has a different application requirement. The general eligibility criteria to study in the UK after 12th is 18 years of age, marks obtained after class 12th if 60% for arts and 75% science and other subjects and English proficiency test.

Documents required for college admission to study in the UK for Indian students after the 12th are:

  • Attested documents of mark sheets of 10th and 12th
  • Confirmation of bachelor’s degree along with mark-sheet (if applicable)
  • Two academic letters of recommendation ( to make the application process run smoothly, these letters claim that you are capable enough to study in the UK)
  •  Proof of accounts in the bank and other bank statements also
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Art, Design and Architecture courses applicants also need to propose a suitable portfolio in the application.
