Shanghai Normal Institution (SHNU), a prominent university in Shanghai since 1954, is a comprehensive university with a focus on teacher education and a particular strength in liberal arts. SHNU has 18 colleges with 85 undergraduate disciplines including philosophy, literature, pedagogy, history, law, economics, management theory, mathematics, engineering, agriculture, and so on, with about 40,000 students. SHNU offers 154 Master’s degrees, 42 doctoral degrees, and seven postdoctoral research centres.
