Renmin University of China (RUC) was founded in 1937 as the Xianbei Public School at the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War and was initially known as the Xianbei Public School. RUC is located in Beijing’s Haidan District, which is located northwest of the capital’s urban core and has a population of over two million people. The neighbourhood has a young demographic and a very active feel due to the number of universities and colleges located in this zone.
