Harbin Engineering University (HEU, originally Harbin Military Engineering Institute) was established in 1953 in Harbin, China’s ice capital, besides the Songhua River. In the fields of shipbuilding engineering, maritime exploration, and nuclear energy applications, HEU has significant personnel training and scientific research. On the eastern edge of campus, the university library is housed in a six-story structure. Nuclear and marine science are two areas where the library’s collections excel.
