Visa application procedure
- Submit an application to a Chinese institution and wait for an acceptance letter.
- Determine which type of visa you’ll need to study in China- International students should apply for one of the following visas before travelling to China, depending on the length of their studies:
- F visa: for students studying in China for less than six months.
- X visa: for students planning to stay in China for more than six months to study.
- Citizens from the European Union (EU) and other countries (e.g. the UK, India, Canada, etc.) can apply through the Chinese VISA Application Service Centre.
You should apply for a study visa in China around one month before your desired arrival date, but not more than three months in advance. All Chinese embassies are typically quite efficient, and visa processing can take as little as one week. Still, we recommend starting the visa application procedure as soon as possible to avoid any delays or complications.
